Programs & Services

Seacoast Big Brothers Big Sisters provides adult mentors and role models for “at-risk” young people between the ages of 6 and 17. Youth served are typically residents of Rockingham or Strafford County in New Hampshire, and occasionally York County in Maine. Volunteer mentors may reside anywhere. The commitment required is a minimum of one year to the relationship, with regular meetings at your convenience. These meetings are typically two to five hours for the community-based matches and one hour for site-based program matches.

Agency services include recruiting, screening and training volunteers before matching them with a “Little”. Professional case managers provide support and case management services to the matches for the life of the match. Regular group events for matches are scheduled. Regular group support meetings for the “Bigs” are offered, as well.

School and site based programs are also offered in many communities to supplement our traditional community based mentoring. We offer same gender matches in most instances, but also will match female “Bigs” with male “Little’s” where appropriate.

Little’s are referred to us in a number of ways, including family, self-referral, school staff, family counselors and police.
